Focus Groups are widely used across different professional, work, and disciplinary spaces to generate ideas and to motivate and assess program design, introduction, and implementation. Focus Groups can also be used to explore and understand people’s perceptions, attitudes, and dispositions about programs, plans, services, and products before, during, and after their introduction. The results from Focus Groups can be used to assess and improve existing programs, plans, services, and products. During this intensive 5-week program, participants will learn how to design and facilitate Focus Groups to achieve those and other objectives.
After the course, participants will be able to:
Identify situations where Focus Groups could be useful
Explain the process and procedures for conducting successful Focus Groups
Develop and demonstrate the ability to write effective questions and protocols for facilitating Focus Groups
Demonstrate the ability to design, implement, and facilitate a plan for Focus Groups
- Identify and demonstrate mastery of the tools that could be used to facilitate Focus Groups
- Identify the problems with focus groups and how they can be addressed
